Root Canal Therapy Reviews
"I went in for a very unpleasant root canal with preconceived anxieties based on the last dentist visit I had in NYC. However at Mint Denistry my entire visit was great!. The receptionists were helpful and warm. Kayla the dental assistant was clearly experienced and gentle. I explained to Dr. Dwaram that I have a high tolerance to local anesthetic and he took his time to make sure I was numb and comfortable before performing any painful work. Im thankful for his kindness and patience. Even Dr.Bell gave me a much needed pep talk in the lobby because she saw how nervous I was. Overall this location has changed my perception of a dentist visit and I will be back until my smile looks like the pictures."- C.B. / Google / Nov 06, 2018
"I have been going to my dentist for 12 years, but decided to give Mint a try. They did not disappoint! Very friendly service and they did an excellent job with my cleaning and identifying a root canal that I was already aware of. Thank you, Mint, for the great service!"- A.C. / Google / Oct 27, 2018
"Came in with severe teeth pain for several days. They got me right in on the same day. I needed a root canal and also did it same day to help alleviate my pain as much as possible. Billy did my cleaning. So gentle and nice. I have not been to the dentist in about 10 years and have had major anxiety. Dr Bell eased my nerves and helped me get through this. My root canal was done by Kayla. Super sweet and gentle!! I’m behind grateful for them all and the entire office. So courteous and fast acting to help get me out of pain. Will be coming here from now on!!!"- L.T. / Google / Dec 04, 2018
A few reasons why the interior pulp of a tooth may become infected are an untreated cavity, a physical trauma, or a crack in the enamel. Some of the most common signs that you may have an infected tooth are tooth or jaw pain, swelling of the gums (around the affected tooth), and changes in the color of the tooth. If the pulp is not removed, it will become increasingly painful as the infection spreads to other teeth and your bloodstream.
What to Expect
To begin your root canal therapy, we will ask you to relax in one of our treatment chairs, where you will be given a pair of our MINT dentistry sunglasses and be offered a pair of our Beats headphones. We want you to feel at ease while you undergo treatment, so the MINT dentistry team will help you choose the most effective type of sedation for your root canal therapy. Many patients request nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral-conscious sedation to help them remain comfortable during a root canal. During an endodontic procedure, one of our board-certified dentists will carefully remove the infected pulp utilizing state-of-the-art tools and techniques. From there, the inside of the empty chamber will be thoroughly sterilized to remove any lingering debris. Once the tooth is cleaned, it will be filled with a special material to seal and protect the tooth. In most cases, a custom-made crown will be placed over the treated tooth to strengthen it.
Depending on what sedation was used, you may need to have a responsible adult take you home after your procedure. Your mouth may feel sensitive or swollen for a while so your doctor may prescribe a pain reliever. You should schedule a follow-up appointment six months after your root canal. Our team will check to make sure the infection is gone and that your mouth has healed. After that, you should continue to schedule annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings to maintain your dental health.
